1. WAYO Children’s Festival
A maze-like festival
A journey from one art attraction to the next
- Travel from one “continent” to another within 2 heritage buildings at Berkeley Castle & Berkeley Theatre
- Watch different arts performances including music, dance & hands-on activities
- From African drums to tales of Asia & the wildlife of Antarctica
- Move through a photo studio to capture a family moment
Children will have the chance to explore the world one continent at a time through a series of interactive artistic experiences.
There are no washrooms onsite, however, the St Lawrence Community Recreation Centre (230 The Esplanade) has public washrooms.
Location: Starts at 250 The Esplanade (Berkeley Castle’s west entrance on The Esplanade)

Time: 4 performances: 4.30pm, 5pm, 5.30pm & 6pm
Price: $5 per person (including children)

2. Play on the Runway
The 1km runway transforms into a playground
Bring Your Wheels
- Bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, unicycles, tricycles or strollers
Test the Latest Toys
- Try electric scooters and bikes
- Rent roller skates, learn to skateboard, or grab a kazoo (musical instrument)
Performances
- Roller-dancing shows, hula dancers & music performances
Kites
- The Toronto Kite Fliers Club will put on a display of gigantic kites
Food trucks
Bring balls, kites, frisbees & sidewalk chalk. Participants must stay on the Runway & aren’t permitted on the grass.

3. Habari Africa Festival
A multi-disciplinary African arts festival

- 3pm – 4pm: Mbira Village – a space to learn a song & touch African Indigenous history
- 4pm – 4.45pm: African music & dance performance
- 4.45pm – 5.30pm: All-ages Afro Fusion Dance workshop
- 5.30pm – 7pm: African music & dance performance
- 6pm – 6.30pm: The African Circus

- 1pm – 5pm: An interactive children’s Kalimba (instrument) workshop
- 1pm – 2pm: All-ages interactive drum village
- 2pm – 2.30pm: West African music performance
- 2.30pm – 3.30pm: An interactive balafon (xylophone) workshop
- 3pm – 3.15pm: Circus dance performance
- 3.15pm – 4pm: A ceremony by the water where music & dance open the way for ancestral presence
- 4pm – 5.30pm: African music performance
- 5pm – 6pm: An interactive balafon (xylophone) workshop
- 5.30pm – 6pm: The African Circus
- 6pm – 7pm: Parade featuring drummers & dancing
Other activities include Ethiopian Buna Café throughout the festival (times vary) where you can enjoy Ethiopian coffee.

4. VIBRA
Vibes From Brazil
- A one-day outdoor festival celebrating Brazilian music & cuisine
- Freshly brewed Brazilian coffee
- Street food
- Pão de queijo, pastel, barbecue, pizza, feijoada & traditional sweets
- Live performances of samba, forró & Afro-Brazilian rhythms
- Kids Space
- 3 children’s Brazilian short movies will be showcased (12-14min long)
- 1pm – 2pm: Kids’ samba workshop

5. Painting Together
Watercolour in the Park
- Saturday family workshops
- Children with caregivers will explore artworks in the AGO
- Then they create art together
- They will learn watercolour painting techniques in the studio
- Then head outside to paint in Grange Park
- All materials are included
