5 of the best things to do with kids this weekend

Sat 10 May – Sun 11 May

1. St. Lawrence Market North

Grand opening

  • Live music (pop, blues, folk & soul, rap, brass band)
  • Kids activities: decorate a produce stand with arts & crafts
  • Photobooth
  • 10am, 1.40pm & 4.10pm: Circus performances
  • Food vendors & a free bbq (while quantities last)
  • Ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Olivia Chow
  • Explore the new building – including tours of the court rooms

The Farmers’ Market runs indoors from 5am – 3pm. Don’t forget to walk to Berczy Park afterwards (aka the fountain with the dog & cat scupltures) – a 6min walk from the market.

Location: St. Lawrence Market North + Market Lane Park + Front Street
Date: Sat 10 May
Time: 10am – 5pm
Price: Free
Age: All

2. Toronto Flower Market

The city’s first outdoor flower market

  • Purchase a handcrafted ice pop from the Pop Stand
  • Participate in a flower pressing activity – confirm with the organizers
  • Play on the ramps in the CAMH park
  • 4min walk from Trinity Bellwoods Playground

Arrive early – popular flowers sell out quickly.

Bring snacks – or go to a brunch afterwards!

Location: 1001 Queen St W
Date: Saturdays 10 May, 14 Jun, 12 Jul, 16 Aug, 13 Sep, 11 Oct
Time: 10am – 3pm
Price: Free
Age: All

3. Twist of Fate

A solo performance that combines contemporary circus, theatre, dance, music, projection mapping & memoir

  • The family-friendly show unfolds the narrative of a circus performer
  • It chronicles her diagnosis, surgery & recovery from scoliosis (a medical condition characterized by a curvature of the spine)
  • A tale of defying adversity to chase one’s dreams
  • Music by award-winning composer Matthew Reid

Although the show is open for all ages, I wouldn’t recommend it for younger than 8yrs based on the subject matter & length – trust your own judgment.

Don’t forget to check out the KidSpark play space while you’re there – tickets are available through to 1 Sept 2025!

Location: Harbourfront Centre Theatre (231 Queens Quay W)
