North Toronto’s new community hub

Weekends at YZD take place every Sunday from 10am – 4pm for free events, programs, & pop-ups at the YZD Plaza.

10am – 12pm: Immersive circus arts workshop

Try various props:

  • Juggling
  • Balancing plates
  • Diabolo (similar to a giant yo-yo)
  • Flower sticks
  • Hula hooping

1pm – 3pm: Tree Sculpture workshop

  • Create tree art out of wire & yarn
  • Materials provided

Activities include:

  • Complimentary mini-golf
  • Interactive playscapes
  • Lawn games
  • Complimentary coffee & light refreshments in the new Experience Centre

The workshops will be indoors.

Price: $5 donation to the North York Harvest Foodbank

2. Milk Up Cownty Fair  

A post-to-pay pop-up

  • A nostalgic event for Gen Z’s to celebrate Ontario dairy
  • Interactive activities
  • Dairy eats include:
    • Nacho cheese dip sandwich
    • Marble pot de crème
    • Cheesy ranch dog
    • Creamy hot cocoa & pumpkin spiced chai

  3. Head to the prize booth
  4. Post to pay using the hashtag #milkupcowntyfair

Visitors are encouraged to dress to impress. Don’t forget to hang out in the Wychwood Barns Park’s playground.

3. Apple Pie Contest & Fundraiser

Bake or eat apple pie

  • Raise money for The Neighbourhood Group Community Services food program
  • Open to anyone who would like to bake an apple pie (including new bakers & professionals)
  • You’re invited to stop by even if you aren’t a baker ($5 slice pies will be served with proceeds going to the charity)

12pm – 1pm: Pies must be dropped off to Collective Arts 

1pm – 3pm: Judging takes place

3pm: Winners will be announced (they will also be notified by email)

  • First prize: $200
  • Second prize: $100
  • Third prize: $50
  • Prizes must be picked up within one week of the event

Pies will be judged on appearance, crust, filling and overall taste. One slice of pie will be used for judging and the rest of the pie will be sold by the slice to raise money.

Rules:

  • Only apple pies will be accepted
  • Only one entry per person
  • Your entry must be a pie you have baked yourself
  • Pies must have a rolled pastry crust. Single or double crust will be accepted
  • Crumb tops are accepted
  • Pies must be made from scratch. No store bought fillings or crusts
  • Pies should be brought in disposable plates only. Plates will not be returned
  • No raw/uncooked eggs (white or yokes). No pies requiring refrigeration will be accepted

Price: $10 donation Registration required on Eventbrite or in person at Comrags (812 Dundas St W)

4. Menage Toronto Holiday Market

For gifts while supporting local makers

Swag bags will be given to the first 20 shoppers in line. The event will take place indoors in Horseshoe.

The event is the largest combined indoor agriculture fair & international equestrian competition in the world. The Farm & Play Zone also includes:
